Things to Do in Kepirohi Waterfall

Kepirohi Waterfall drops almost 300 feet through Pohnpei's dense rainforest, feeding crystal-clear swimming pools that make the muddy hike worthwhile. You won't find crowds here. Pohnpei sees few tourists, and the challenging trek through river crossings deters casual visitors looking for easy access. The isolation is the point. Ancient stone platforms and archaeological sites scatter throughout the untouched forest—remnants of Micronesia's heritage that most people walk right past. You can spend entire afternoons alone, listening to thundering water and watching tropical birds move through the canopy above.

Kolonia serves decent food. The main town offers local Micronesian cuisine alongside international options for the small expat community—fresh seafood, taro, breadfruit, and sakau (kava) represent local specialties. Western restaurants serve pizza and Chinese food. Hotels often provide the most reliable meals, especially outside Kolonia proper.

December through April offers the driest conditions, though "dry" means little on one of Earth's wettest islands. Expect afternoon showers and humidity year-round. Trails stay somewhat less muddy during these months, and river crossings become easier to manage safely. The waterfall looks most impressive during rainier periods when water flow peaks—just prepare for challenging conditions and potentially impassable streams.
